What’s The Difference Between a Lash Lift and Lash Extensions?
A Lash Lift works by enhancing your natural lashes. This includes lifting, curling and setting them into place using a safe, semi-permanent solution. There are no false lashes involved, and the result is a subtle but striking look that lasts for weeks with minimal upkeep.
Lash Extensions, on the other hand, involve bonding (gluing) synthetic lashes to your natural ones to create a fuller, more dramatic appearance. While extensions can offer immediate volume and length, they often require more maintenance, including infills every few weeks and careful aftercare to prevent premature shedding.

How Do I Prepare For My Lash Lift Session?
- Remove eye makeup. This includes mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow or under-eye concealer as oil and makeup residue can affect how well the solution works.
- Avoid waterproof mascara for at least 48 hours. Waterproof formulas leave a film on the lashes that can stop the lifting solution from fully penetrating.
- Remove contact lenses. Don’t wear contact lenses during the treatment as the solution and shields can cause irritation.
- Skip lash curlers for a few days beforehand. Over-curling your lashes can weaken them making the lift less effective.
- Avoid lash serums on the day of the treatment. Ingredients in serums may interfere with the lifting solution.
- Arrive on time and relaxed! The treatment takes approximately an hour, during which your eyes will be closed, so being comfortable is important.

Aftercare for Lash Lift Treatments
The success of your lash lift depends very much on the aftercare you take. I’ll do my best to support you through your aftercare so that your lashes last as long as possible by:
- Giving you a full aftercare sheet that clearly lists what you need to do over the next 48 hours post lash lift treatment
- Answering any queries or concerns you may have (within working hours)
- Sending you a link to the relevant blog post here on the Sublime Beauty website as a refresher when required.
The Lash Lift Treatment Top-up Process
As Lash Lifts are semi-permanent, the effects naturally fade over time as your lashes grow and shed. To maintain that fresh, lifted look, top-ups are recommended every 4 to 8 weeks, depending on your lash cycle and how defined you like your lashes to appear.
Top-up treatments are recommended to capture the new lashes that have grown since your last treatment. Treating the newly grown hairs keeps your lashes looking effortlessly styled all year round, with no mascara or lash curlers needed.

I originally trained at Harley Street Microblading Academy, then moved to more advanced training at the Eclipse School of Beauty in all aspects of semi-permanent makeup. I have also achieved the highest industry standard qualification – VTCT level 4 in micropigmentation which included advanced microblading technique.
I’ve been able to continue to take courses both online and in-person depending on the certification requirements, so that I’m always up to date on the latest rends and techniques (including health and safety). Yes! Allow the Lash Lift to settle for 48 hours, after which you are perfectly fine to apply mascara without negatively affecting the lift. In fact, mascara can add more volume to your lashes giving the lift even more impact!
Do Lash Lifts hurt?
Absolutely not! Lash lifts are non-invasive cosmetic treatments. Many clients look forward to having a lie down and a chat whilst this very gentle treatment is carried out.
Can I wash my face after a Lash Lift treatment?
You should avoid getting your lashes wet for the first 24 to 48 hours whilst your lashes set. You can use a washcloth around the area just not on the lashes themselves. We will discuss how to make this process easy for you during your aftercare.
Do Lash Lifts damage your lashes?
No. When performed by a trained professional, Lash Lifts are perfectly safe for your natural lashes. In addition, I use digital timers for each eye to prevent over treating the lashes which can potentially damage them.
