What is Powder Brow Treatment?

Powder Brow is a cosmetic tattooing technique that uses a digital machine to fill the brow with pixels (or dots) of desired colour. These pixelations create a shading effect similar to makeup such as  an eyebrow pencil, powder or pomade.

Immediately after your Powder Brow session, your brows will look defined and strong in appearance, but once healed, they will appear much softer, like a softly shaded powder look.

Powder Brow Benefits

The rise of powder brow makeup can be attributed to several factors, including the growing trend for natural-looking beauty and the desire for low-maintenance beauty routines. With powder brows, you can achieve a polished look without having to worry about reapplying makeup throughout the day.

Powder Brows are suitable for all skin types.

The use of the digital machine allows more pigment to be inserted into the skin for longer lasting results.

The digital machine technique produces minimal lymph fluid which dilutes pigment. This results in better pigment retention, and longer lasting results.

The Powder Brow healing process is generally faster than Microblading, as the technique causes minimal trauma to the skin.

: Due to better pigment retention, top up treatment time is significantly shortened, and a closer colour match can be expected.

What’s the difference between Powder Brows and Ombre Brows?

Both Powder Brows and Ombre Brows are created using the same digital machine. It’s how the pixels of colour are distributed into the skin that make Powder Brows look different from Ombre Brows. With Powder Brows, the pixels of colour (pigment) are distributed evenly throughout the length of the brow. The Ombre Brow effect is created by inserting more pigment at the tail of the brow and gradually lessening as it approaches the front of the brow. This technique gives the brow a soft, 3D effect. The extra precision required by the artist makes the Ombre Brow treatment time longer and slightly pricier, but it won’t break the bank!

Both Powder Brow and Ombre Brow work well on all skin types and soften after healing for a natural look.

What to Expect From Your SPMU Eyebrow Session

Every Powder Brow treatment is bespoke to the client, but some steps are the same as other SPMU techniques, despite delivering very different brows. Once we have ruled out any allergies to the pigment and numbing used, and your medical form indicates that you eligible to receive amazing brows:

Step 1: I’ll turn up to your home at the time that best suits you

Step 2: We’ll cleanse your brow area and I’ll apply numbing cream to let it sit for 25-30 minutes

Step 3: Whilst you’re numbing and enjoying a little drink or snack, I will set up the treatment bed, sanitised equipment and disposable equipment

Step 4: After numbing, I will then work on creating the perfect brow shape for your face. This will be based on your face morphology and your preferences. This is the longest part of the treatment, as I have a great eye for detail and you have to be more than 100% happy with the proposed design and colour

Step 5: Once the shape and colour have been secured, I will unseal the single use gamma sterilised cartridge needle and create perfect shading. You will be numbed throughout the process to ensure maximum comfort levels

Step 6: All done! I’ll see you in 4 to 8 weeks when your brows are fully healed for your top-up.

Aftercare for Powder Brow Treatment

The success of your Powder Brow depends very much on the aftercare you take. I will do my best to support you through your aftercare so that it’s as easy and painless as possible by:

  • Giving you a full aftercare sheet that clearly lists what you need to do over the next 7-10 day post-Powder Brow.
  • Providing a high-performing healing serum that will speed up the healing process, therefore  reducing the risk of infection and soothing the area.
  • Answering any queries or concerns you may have (within working hours).
  • Sending you a link to the relevant blog post here on the Sublime Beauty website as a refresher when required.

The SPMU Brow Colour Boost Process

As semi-permanent makeup is designed to fade, colour boosts are highly recommended to refresh the colour and shape before the brows disappear and you have to start again. Colour boosts can be done between 6 to 18 months depending on how dark you prefer your brows to be. Colour boosts cost less than the initial investment (around £105 -£155) as they take less time to do with the shape already secured.

Why Trust Me to Perform Your Powder Brow Treatment?

Whoever you choose as your brow artist, please ensure that they are honest, and demonstrate in-depth knowledge in their field. You should never feel coerced to undergo a treatment: they must provide you with all the facts so that you can make an informed decision as to whether or not to go ahead with your Powder Brow session.

  • Powder Brow Training

I originally trained at Harley Street Microblading Academy, then moved to more advanced training at the Eclipse School of Beauty in all aspects of semi-permanent makeup. I have also achieved the highest industry standard qualification – VTCT level 4 – in micropigmentation which included the Powder Brow technique. Over lockdown in 2020/21, I undertook online courses to perfect my technique whilst my daughter sat next to me attending ‘virtual’ school sessions.

  • Practice Makes a Perfect Powder Brow!

I’m passionate about giving women the eyebrows they have always wanted, so I practise daily and regularly invest in master courses to provide the best possible service to my clients.

Where To Get Your Perfect Powder Brows

I’m a mobile therapist, which means you can get the best brows of your life by simply staying at home!

Powder Brows Near Me.....or You?

At the moment, I work in the following boroughs:

Bromley, Croydon, Lewisham, Greenwich

  • If you can’t see your area here but you’re not far away, you can still get in touch to see if I’m able to travel further for a slight additional expense.

Powder Brow Frequently Asked Questions:

Do Powder Brows fade?

Yes. Semi-Permanent Makeup is designed to fade over time. Without colour boosting, Powder Brows will fade completely after 12-18 months (depending on the client’s health, lifestyle and age).

Which is Better, Powder Brows or Microblading?

This is one of the most asked questions that I have, and the answer is not straightforward. One technique is not better than the other, but one of them will be more suitable for one client than the other. For example, if you have oily or porous skin, I do not recommend Microblading as it will fade quickly and the strokes will blur into a solid block. In this instance, I would recommend Powder Brow or Nano Brow as this works well on such skin.

During your consultation, I will assess your skin, discuss your lifestyle, consider your age and go through your medical history. All of these aspects determine which technique is better suited to the result you’re looking for.

Can Powder Brows be Removed?

If you’ve been treated by a reputable artist that has carried out the SPMU process to the highest standard, then it is highly unlikely that you would consider removal. With that said, it can be comforting to know that most Powder Brows can be removed.

There are currently 2 techniques available in the market. One is saline removal and the other is laser removal. The number of treatments required to successfully lighten/remove varies from person to person.

I currently do not offer a SPMU removal service, and recommend that you seek a thorough consultation with a therapist that specialises in this field to ensure a safe and successful outcome.

Can Powder Brows Cause Scarring?

When carried out by a reputable artist, Powder Brows will not cause scarring. Cosmetic tattoos are carried out on  the very top layer of the skin, in the junction between the epidermis and dermis. It is shallow work that is carried out by layering the pigment lightly with minimal pressure. I create Powder Brows on an inflated balloon as part of my practice to ensure that my technique is not damaging my client’s skin.
